Pier Lorenzo Vangelisti. This wonderful Florentine maker of the early 18th. century has produced some of the finest sounding basses that I have ever seen or heard. This, like the other instruments that I have sold of this maker is quite beautiful, not only in the sound but in the looks as well. It has a really nice two piece shaped swell back, cutting in at the top. It has the typical violin corners that have almost been squared instead of coming to a point. The table is one piece close grain pine, and the back and ribs are of a rather plain maple. This is a truly lovely bass and makes a very fine orchestral come solo sound. The string length is 41-1/2 inches. This instrument was made in Florence in c1725.
